SPM Girls Soccer Earns MIAA Tournament Berth

#14 Guardians travel to #3 Oakmont Saturday evening

WORCESTER, Mass. (November 2, 2018) - The St. Peter-Marian girls soccer team earned a District Tournament berth the other afternoon as it was selected as the 14th seed in the 2018 MIAA Division III Central MA District playoffs.  

The Guardians, under direction of fourth year head coach, Chip Achorn, garnered an impressive 11-6-1 mark this season with a 2-4 mark in the Central MA Conference. SPM was led offensively by sophomore Victoria Potter (Rutland, Mass.) who totaled a team-best 27 points with 15 goals and 12 assists. Freshman Ava Kapurch (Worcester, Mass.) ranked second on the squad with 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists), while junior captain Kellie Bushe (Worcester, Mass.) anchored the defense, a defense that limited opponents to just 1.50 goals per game.

St. Peter-Marian will travel to third-seeded Oakmont Regional tomorrow evening for a match starting at 6pm.. The winner of tomorrow's contest will advance to the quarterfinal match up vs. the winner of #11 Leicester and #8 Bromfield.
