SPM Claims Kelly O'Leary Tournament Crown With 5-1 Victory Over Auburn

Alex nets a pair to lead Guardians; Dang named Tourament MVP

WORCESTER, Mass. (February 17, 2019) - The St. Peter-Marian girls hockey closed out the 2018-19 regular season in winning fashion, posting a 5-1 victory over Auburn High to claim the 2019 Kelly O'Leary Tournament crown this afternoon.

Junior Sena Alex (Grafton, Mass.) led the Guardians attack this afternoon, posting a pair of goals, while eighth grader Gina Richard (Northborough, Mass.), classmate Gretchen Swartz (Bolton, Mass.) and freshman Annabella Chaves (Hudson, Mass.) added one goal apiece.

In net, freshman Mia Dang (Worcester, Mass.) was crowned the Tournament Most Valuable Player, posting 18 saves for the victory. 

St. Peter-Marian (13-7) will now await its pairing for the 2019 MIAA Division Girls Hockey District tournament. The selection meeting is scheduled for February 23rd.
