Guardians earn 12th seed; face sixth seeded-Quabbin Regional in opening round
WORCESTER, Mass. (October 31, 2018) – The St. Peter-Marian field hockey team earned its way to a post-season berth this season, claiming the 12th seed in the 2018 MIAA Division I Central MA District tournament.
The Guardians, led by head coach Julie Kreuz, keeps their post-season berth streak alive after posting an overall record of 9-7-1 (3-3-0 Central MA Conference) this year. SPM was led by senior captains Liz Zenevitch (Worcester, Mass.) and Lauren Moran (Cherry Valley, Mass.) who combined for 56 points on the year. Zenevitch sparked the Guardians with a team-best 20 goals and eight assists, while Moran paced the SPM offense with seven goals and a team-high 21 helpers. In net, junior Analicea Lavin (Worcester, Mass.) has been strong for the Guardians, yielding opponents to a minimal 1.28 goals against average (GAA).
St. Peter-Marian will travel to sixth-seeded Quabbin Regional this afternoon for a 2:30pm tilt. The winner of today's contest will advance to the quarterfinal match up vs. third-seeded Marlborough High.
