SPM Baseball Routs Wachusett, 12-0

Guardians erupt for 11 hits and 12 runs in key Division I match up

WORCESTER, Mass. (April 5, 2019). The St. Peter-Marian baseball team improved to 2-0 on the season as it posted a 12-0 shutout over Wachusett Regional this afternoon on the road.

The Guardians exploded for 11 hits and seven walks on the day, led by junior Will Bruno (Upton, MA) who finished 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Classmate Frankie Hernandez, Jr. (Worcester, MA) was also solid, notching three hits and three runs scored, while sophomore Luke Delongchamp (Holden, MA) went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs socred and one RBI.

Delongchamp was equally as strong on the mound, earning the victory for the Guardians with a complete-game, two-hit shoutout. The second-year hurler tossed five innings, yielding two hits and four walks, while striking out five.

St. Peter-Marian (2-0) will be back in action on Sunday as it travels to North Andover for a 1pm contest. The game will be played at Haverhill Stadium.
